The film, whose title translates roughly to “Those children falling bloodied from beatings go unnoticed,” is a raw drama about child abuse and the value of education. But Diya’s attempt to explain the film’s message has been met with accusations of insensitivity, leaving producers scrambling to clarify the intent behind her words.

The controversy erupted after Diya told a local news channel that the film “shows how society ignores the suffering of children who are beaten, but we must understand the price of education.” While she did not elaborate further, her phrasing-“the price of education”-was widely interpreted as implying that physical punishment is an acceptable part of schooling. Social media users, particularly parents and educators, condemned the remark as tone-deaf.

The intent may be good, but the impact matters more.” Meanwhile, child rights activist and filmmaker Anjali Menon added, “Any suggestion that violence is part of education is dangerous. I hope Diya and the team clarify further.”

Some have defended Diya. A veteran journalist covering the film beat noted, “She was trying to articulate how some parents justify beatings. The media has grabbed a soundbite and run with it.” But even supporters concede that her phrasing was clumsy.

The movie is set for a wide release on August 5, 2026. Despite the controversy, advance bookings have been strong, with many curious to see the film that has sparked such debate. Prakash said he hopes audiences will judge the movie on its full content, not a single quote.

Diya has not issued a further statement, but insiders suggest she is “devastated” by the backlash and plans to release a clarifying video soon. The production house, Silverline Studios, has asked the media to avoid jumping to conclusions.
